AUGUST 2025
August was just as busy as July, filled with incredible experiences and memories with some of my best friends. I think it's safe to say this was one of the best summers I've ever had. A special shoutout to my hometown friends for orchestrating awesome shenanigans! Onto what I've been up to this month:
MUSIC
The Heavy Heavy

The Heavy Heavy is a band my DAD actually put me on. We always laugh about this together because he is horribly uninformed about the newest trends and slang words, but one thing he does a phenomenal job of is keeping up with new music. Dad heard The Heavy Heavy on the radio about two years ago and told me to go see their set at the Levitate Music Festival that year. Well, I did, and they’ve been a favorite of mine ever since. This summer, we heard they were going to be at the Levitate Backyard, so we immediately got tickets. Dad and I shared a beer and listened to this epic band rock out for two hours straight, and afterward, got to MEET THEM. They signed my record I bought of their live album, and Georgie complimented both my jewelry and friendship with my Dad. Safe to say we love this band now. Listen to Miles and Miles!!!
MOVIES
Superman

Let the record show I am and forever will be a Marvel fan. I grew up with Batman a bit, sure, but Spiderman, Captain America, Iron Man, and other Marvel heroes were what stuck with me. My parents love Superman, so we decided to watch the new movie together. I loved it! It was fun and engaging with great visual elements, even if the CGI was less than impressive and it was a little too focused on comedy than letting moments sit. Krypto was my favorite and I thought this was a great win for DC.
TV
The Summer I Turned Pretty
Obviously…had to watch the last season of this show! I read the books which were great, even if the entire plot is offputting. Team Conrad I don’t understand how you couldn’t be. Also feel this is a great time to bring up that I was in Paris during the filming of the final episodes of this show!
BOOKS
Every Summer After
THIS. BOOK. wow. I immediately got over my semi-reading slump with this. The writing of this is so incredibly engaging that you continue to flip the page as the end of each chapter leaves you with an enormous cliffhanger and a gazillion questions. My singular complaint of this story is that it continues to rise and rise in conflict and anticipation but when it finally climaxes, the resolution is quite sudden and underwhelming. All that to say though, I loved this book for the most part and recommend it to anyone, especially if you already like romance novels and might be in a slump yourself.
FOOD
Steak Frites

I genuinely do not know what compelled me to order this entree at a restaurant with my parents once but the second I tried it I immediately ordered it at every restaurant I could for a few weeks. The funniest part about this is that I generally do not like to eat fried food, especially french fries, that often, but I was so obsessed with steak frites because it is basically a cheaper way to get steak (as in the prices are lower for frites than they are for just a regular steak and sides on a menu). I think I am over this craving now thankfully but they were definitely delicious.
DRINK
Lemonade
This is also kind of random, but my parents often buy the Minute Maid raspberry lemonade and the last few weeks I was home, I was chugging it all the time. It is so delicious and so summery!
APP
Google Calendar
What you know about gcal? This is an around-the-clock 24/7/365 app I use to keep track of everything I have to do, and I am convinced that if someone were to see it from afar, they would think I have a screw loose in my head. Nonetheless, with the start of school, the gcal came out STRONG as I put in my courses, extracurriculars, meetings, etc, throughout the week!
HOBBY OF THE MONTH
Tennis

I've been taking tennis lessons for two summers now, and can confidently say that I am obsessed! It has been so much fun to play an individual sport, as most of what I grew up playing was very team-oriented. My coach is awesome and I love watching tennis too. Coco Gauff, Carlos Alcaraz, and Ben Shelton are my favs. My dad and I got to play a few times together this August (hence the photo, when my mom watched us) and it was a blast!
And this concludes my reflection as to what I’ve been consuming this month! See you in the next one!
