Two Words: Jackson Hole. One thing about me is that I love my steak, and they know how to make some good steak. Check out that display! Phone ate first this time.
July flew past us and I am already in mourning. One more month of summer left! Here is everything I've been treating myself to this wonderful month.
JULY 2024
MUSIC
Childish Gambino

Childish Gambino released a new album titled Bando Stone and The New World, and I have been all over it. My favorite songs so far have got to be (no pun intended) Real Love and Lithonia, though I have yet to listen and interpret the album in its entirety. Childish Gambino is my favorite rapper, and I’ve been a fan since his album Because of the Internet. I am very excited to get some new music from him!
MOVIES
Inside Out 2

This movie was awesome. I absolutely adored - and shed some tears - to the first film, but based on Disney’s recent sequels I was a little nervous on how this one would go. While I do not find it as emotionally tugging, it is still rather beautiful, as you relate to Riley and her emotions trying to navigate the world. Big thumbs up from me on this one!
TV
Chopped

Lately I’ve been on a cooking kick. I feel myself trying to be a culinary queen and for reasons I cannot exactly determine. Alas, to further my skills, I have been obsessed with cooking shows, and Chopped is definitely one of my favorites. The chefs are already very skilled, but as you watch them make their dishes, I feel like you learn a thing or two. I just watched an episode surrounding noodles and learned that when cooking with white wine, you have to make sure it's fully cooked out to avoid the acidic taste that it can bring into a dish. Fascinating!
BOOKS
The Stranger in the Woods

This month, I got to travel to Wyoming with my family and visit Yellowstone National Park and Grand Tetons National Park. Along the road trips, I decided I wanted to read a nature-esque book and settled on the narrative of a man who managed to live, unknown, in a Maine forest for over 20 years. This book was honestly fascinating and has a taste of Into The Wild in it, while also adding its own pizazz. It is also a book about psychology, in a way, as we see into the mind of the hermit. I highly recommend it.
FOOD
Huckleberry

Ah yes, the fruit of the west. Never had huckleberry before, tried it in Wyoming, ate it every day the rest of the trip. Huckleberry ice cream, huckleberry lemonade, huckleberry berries, huckleberry licorice, you name it they had it and I tried most of it. This is a pic of my first try at huckleberry lemonade, which basically tasted like blue raspberry lemonade but still very good!
DRINK
Swoon

Outside of the Levitate Music Festival, a brand called Swoon was giving out free drinks, and I loved the taste. It is a beverage with only 5 calories and no sugar (I have no idea how they make this happen) but they have flavors like raspberry tea, lemonade, pink lemonade, peach tea, so on and so forth. You can definitely taste the difference without the sugar, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t good. I found them in some grocery stores and started buying them, and they are great to pair with dinners in the summertime!
PICK OF THE MONTH
Store: REI

As we embarked on our hiking excursion, of course we needed gear first. We had an old REI membership and we put that baby to WORK buying hiking shoes, water bottles, wool socks, hats, bags, etc. Honestly I am in love with that store. They have such fun stuff and make you feel very granola girl!
That's all for now, thank you as always for tuning into what I've been up to. Until next month!
