disclaimer: I did not eat that. But my friend did and showed me the packaging to tell me my last name is famous! To which I told her, "okay, but have you ever heard of my porta-potty company?" (if you know, you KNOW)

I thought it would be fun to start a part of my blog where I have the chance to reflect on the media I have been consuming over the past month and share it with you all through my writing. While it allows me to actually sit and realize what I watch, read, listen to, or fuel my body with, it also may help all of you in finding new media that you can enjoy, too!

So, without further ado, I give you my very first entry to “What I’m Consuming.”

APRIL 2024

MUSIC

Chappell Roan and Olivia Rodrigo

Okay first off, Olivia Rodrigo will ALWAYS be part of my music taste, and that is a fact. I am obsessed with her. So, obviously, it was wise of me to attend the “Guts World Tour” with one of my best friends, Tate. As we got to our seats and sat down, the opener began to play…and who was that but CHAPPELL ROAN. Tate and I were both like, “ok?” and went on yapping until she CAPTURED us with “HOT TO GO!” Tate and I realized this girl was…sorry mom and dad…the SHIT. Since this experience, I've gone deeper into Chappell Roan’s music and am completely compelled by her eccentric style and catchy tunes. She’ll definitely be on repeat for some time. If you’re looking for the song to grasp your attention, I suggest listening to “Red Wine Supernova” - I guarantee your foot will be tapping 30 seconds in.

BOOKS

World Mythology

This one is just weird and I recognize that. I bought this book one day at Barnes & Nobles and it’s been sitting on my shelf since. I decided to finally give it a try. I love Greek mythology - the Percy Jackson series were my favorite books growing up. I am only a few pages in, but excited to see the way others conceptualize the world throughout human history.

MOVIES

La La Land

No, this is NOT the first time I have ever watched La La Land. This is actually, likely, the fourth or the fifth time I’ve seen this film. And every single time it blows me away. I recognize it is a little bit of a niche taste, as I have had friends of mine tell me they can’t sit through it, but I find it captivating. I could go on and on about the intellect behind this film, such as the usage of color to aid the story or how the soundtrack bridges dreams with reality, but alas…if you haven’t given it a go, try it and let me know what you think.

FOOD

Risotto

I tried Risotto for the first time with a few friends of mine and all I can say is: where have you been all my life?

DRINK

Peppermint tea

Hot girls have tummy issues and ya girls got A LOT of them. Healthline says peppermint tea can act as a digestive aid, so I’ve been drinking it a lot at night after a day of eating. I can’t say yet if it's drastically helping my gut health, but it's scrumptious nonetheless.

And that's all for this months, and the first month of, "What Am I Consuming." Stay tuned for more and let me know if you tried anything from the list!
